Parent-on-Duty (POD)

 Responsibilities:

It is the responsibility of each parent of our school to ensure the safety and orderly conduct of children enrolled in our school. In order to achieve this objective, the school’s parent association assigns PARENTS-ON-DUTY-every week. Each school day, 14 individuals are needed to cover all the locations of the classes. The POD schedule is created at the beginning of the semester. All parents MUST participate and take turns to fulfill this responsibility. Each family will be assigned ONLY one POD day this semester. The schedule will be sent to all parents via e-mail and will also be published on the school’s website for convenience.

 POD list of responsibilities:

  1. Maintain the tidiness of the school environment, distribute school notices, maintain order, and ensure the students’ safety.
  2. Parents are encouraged to check their own assigned date of duty ahead of time. A PTA member will call to remind you before each school day.
  3. Please report to the school at the main office located in the AAB Building Rm. 111-before  9:20 am and sign in.
  4. If for any reason,  you can not make it on the scheduled date, please notify PTA ahead of  time. The parent may exchange their date with another parent, or the PTA  will reschedule it for them.
  5. Please wear your  name tag to be created by the school-and orange-colored vest distributed  by school-for identification.Emergency phone numbers of school personnel  will be on the back of the name tags.
  6. You must stay at your assigned location from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Do NOT attend any other activities during this time. Be alert and keep the hallway quiet during  class hours.
  7. Maintain a safe environment during class recesses. When classes are on break, please walk around and check the hallways, classrooms, and stairs to make sure that no children are engaging in any dangerous or inappropriate activities, such  as climbing out of windows, making loud noises, etc. Keep small children under the age of 12-away from the stairways and elevators.
  8. Contact the school  Administration Team published on the website-if any unexpected issue develops and escort the student to the main office.
  9. Assist teachers with safety issues upon their request.
  10. Make sure that no chairs and signs are left in the hallway after school.
  11. One POD from each Kindergarten class will stay inside the classroom and help the teacher.The POD is expected to bring healthy snacks and drinks for the entire class.

The Committee of Safety and Discipline will patrol all the class locations, either by Vice Principal of Safety and Discipline or assigned delegate, to help all PODs achieve their duties stated above.

If a parent fails to fulfill their duty, the school administration will give a warning for the first time, and will report to the Board of Directors of our school for further actions, including a possibility to remove their child/children from school, if this occurs twice within one year period.
